Jeff Aumend is the first head softball coach in Queens history, and he joins two of his former pitchers in the Queens Athletics Hall of Fame. In seven years, he accumulated a record of 155-132-1, guiding the Royals to a pair of 26-win seasons in just their first two years of existence. In 1997, the Royals posted a 32-win season which remained a record until 2005. The team also ranked fourth in the nation in batting average that season.

Aumend saw his players receive 18 all-conference awards, four all-tournament recognitions, and a few all-region nods. Two of his pitchers,
Catrina Crisp and
Heather Bostic, sit tied at Queens in wins while Catrina Crisp’ shutout record still stands to this day. The pair also ranked nationally in strikeouts per seven innings in their time at Queens with Crisp ranking as high as fourth in the nation.

In addition to serving as head softball coach at Queens, Aumend was the sports information director. His attention to detail when it came to stat keeping and archiving laid the foundation for Queens’ record keeping over the years.

Since departing Queens, the Alliance, Ohio native has continued his career as a head coach making stops at Montana State Billings, Charleston Southern, and Alliance. He is also a member of the MSU Billings Yellowjacket Athletics Hall of Fame.
