Women's Tennis 1991-1995
Nikki Blaha graduated from Queens University of Charlotte in 1995 after a stellar tennis career where she played as the one or two in all of her matches. As a senior, Blaha led the women’s tennis team to its first ever NCAA tournament bid in school history. Also significant, this was the first NCAA appearance for any Queens’ team since joining the NCAA. In addition to being a part of history at Queens, Blaha was also undefeated in doubles her senior year.
Off the court, Blaha was just as strong as she was named a GTE Academic All-America and President of the Campus Judicial Board. The same year her all around efforts on and off the court helped her to be named the Queens Female Student-Athlete of the Year –the highest honor bestowed by the department of athletics on a student-athlete.
Continuing her athletic endeavors, Blaha currently plays on a women’s Australian Football Team and enjoys surfing. Staying true to the Queens motto "Not to be served, but to serve,” Blaha volunteers for Phinney’s Friends, an organization that helps disabled people take care of their pets so they do not have to give them up and is currently helping care for a blind woman's dogs and a cat that belongs to a woman living with HIV.
Blaha, who resides in Boston, Mass., will always be known as an integral part of the history making team at Queens.
