Jill Langford Dame is the fifth Queens Athletics Hall of Fame member being honored under the Royals Lifetime Achievement Award category. In order to be recognized for this award the nominee must have attended Queens for at least two years and have made significant contribution during that time and beyond. Dame graduated from Queens in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in English and history. While a student, she was a member of the women’s tennis and volleyball teams. She was also SGA President and a member of Chi Omega Fraternity, Mortar Board, Valkyrie, and Concert Choir.
 
After Queens, Dame went on to the University of Florida, College of Law to earn her J.D. with honors in 1981. She then earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Jacksonville University in 1989.
 
Over the years, Dame has practiced law, served as a teacher and professor, and worked as a consultant and interim executive director in the nonprofit sector. She has been actively involved in the Jacksonville community serving as president of the Junior League of Jacksonville, PACE Center for Girls Jacksonville, the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida, Girls on the Run of Northeast Florida, and Willing Hands. In addition, Dame chaired the implementation task force for JCCI’s 1998 study, The Role of Nonprofit Organizations, and chaired JCCI’s Children 1-2-3 Study. She currently sits on the board of the Jacksonville Public Library.
 
Dame is an alumna of Leadership Jacksonville (Class of 1987) and a member of the Jacksonville Women’s Network, The Meninak Club of Jacksonville and the Florida Bar. She is also a past recipient of the Junior League of Jacksonville’s Tillie Fowler Community Leadership Award, Leadership Jacksonville’s Distinguished Leadership Award, and JCCI’s Milestones Award for work as Chair of the Role of Nonprofit Organizations Study Implementation. Additionally, the 2001 Folio Weekly’s Person of the Year was named a 2013 Woman of Distinction by Girl Scouts of Gateway Council and the following year she was named a Woman of Influence by the Jacksonville Business Journal.
 
Currently, Dame is the chief executive officer at Leadership Jacksonville, a position she has held since 2013. She and her husband Peter have twin daughters, Brooks and Darby.
