Angela Claire Rushton is just the second women’s soccer player to enter the Queens Athletics Hall of Fame. The goalkeeper attended Queens from 1989-1993, coming to the Royals from Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, S.C. Rushton was one of the program’s first recruits, and she helped the team accumulate a record of 26-30-2 over her four years. After a 2-9 start in the program’s inaugural season, the Royals went on to post three consecutive winning seasons.

Rushton was named Team MVP after sophomore and junior seasons. She was also honored with the Leadership Award as a junior and named Student-Athlete of the Year during her senior year. The goalkeeper would leave Queens with a total of 19 shutouts in her career, which still holds as the most of anyone in the program.

Rushton graduated with a degree in political science and went on to earn her juris doctor from Emory University School of Law. She currently serves as the Associate General Counsel for Labor, Employment & Compliance at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. Additionally, Rushton is a soccer mom to four kids, Sarah, Emily, Mary Katherine and Jack, who play for Furman United Soccer Club in Greenville, S.C.
