Once they joined the CVAC, they would began making their mark in the league from the start. Going 14-4 in league play in their first season with the conference, the Royals went on to win the CVAC Tournament. With that came their first NCAA appearance in program history. The next year, Queens posted a 16-4 CVAC record, and Wittman was named to both the CVAC All-Conference First and All-Tournament Teams. He was also named an all-American.

Wittman completed his career at Queens as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,462 points, which still ranks fifth in the record books.
