Royals Hall of Fame
Tanya Zeferjahn is the first women’s track and field athlete to be inducted into the Queens Athletics Hall of Fame. The four-time USTFCCCA All-American was also the first female student-athlete at Queens to win a national championship after winning the 10k at the NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championships two years in a row. She is also a two-time USTFCCCA Southeast Track Athlete of the Year and the 2010 Conference Carolinas Female Athlete of the Year.
Zeferjahn currently holds Queens records in the indoor mile (4:53.33), indoor 3k (9:22.95), indoor 5k (16:13), outdoor 1500m (4:28.76), outdoor 5k (16:03.51), and outdoor 10k (33:09.47). Following graduation, The Hesperia, California native went on to compete at the US Championships finishing 16th overall in the 10k.
Zeferjahn earned an MBA at Queens in 2010. After graduating from Queens, Zeferjahn enjoyed a short post-collegiate running career, running for the Bowerman Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon. In 2012, she returned home to California to pursue her M.S. degree in Geology at Long Beach State University.
Currently, Zeferjahn works as an engineering geologist for the State of California Environmental Protection Agency. She also coaches cross country and track with her husband at Newbury Park High School, where both the boys and girls teams are ranked first in the State of California and top 20 in the nation.
Zeferjahn still enjoys running every day and competes for her local running club, Cal Coast Track Club. She married her long-time boyfriend, Sean Brosnan, in 2015. They now reside in Thousand Oaks, California with their four cats.
