Adam Linens Named Queens Director of Sports Performance

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Adam Linens has officially joined the Royals staff at Queens University of Charlotte as the director of sports performance after spending the past six seasons with the Charlotte Hornets as the head strength and conditioning coach.

"We are excited to welcome Adam to our staff," Queens Director of Athletics Cherie Swarthout stated. "His experience and proven success at the collegiate and professional levels will elevate our student-athletes to continue to perform at peak levels."

With the Hornets, Linens oversaw all aspects of strength and conditioning, collaborating with sports scientists to develop individual programming needs. He also worked with the team's medical staff to design return-to-play programs for individuals and handled evaluation and testing during the NBA Combine and Hornets pre-draft testing.

"I'm happy to be a part of Queens University," Linens commented. "I look forward to helping the athletes here reduce their risk of injury, improve their movement quality, strength, speed, and power, which ultimately will have a transfer to them reaching their full potential in their respective sports."

Before joining the Hornets, Linens was the basketball strength and conditioning coach at the University of Oregon, helping develop five NBA players and three WNBA Draft Picks from 2015-2018. The men's basketball team also earned two Pac-12 regular season and tournament titles while making NCAA Elite 8 and Final Four appearances. The women's basketball team reached the Elite 8 in 2018 after winning the Pac-12 Regular Season and Tournament title.

Linens began his career in sports medicine after earning a degree in exercise and sport science with a concentration in athletic training from UNC Chapel Hill in 2005. After working with multiple high schools and in the private industry, he joined the Atlanta Dream as part of their strength and conditioning staff while also interning with the Atlanta Hawks in the same capacity. In 2014, Linens was named the strength and conditioning coach and assistant athletic trainer for the Canton Charge of the NBA G-League while also serving as an intern for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He remained in that role up until he joined the Ducks in Oregon.

Linens earned his master's in exercise science and health promotion with a concentration in rehabilitation sciences in 2014 from California University of Pennsylvania. Linens is a certified athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), and a certified strength and conditioning coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
