CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Head Women's Lacrosse Coach
Kelly McQuilkin releases the program's first full NCAA Division I schedule ahead of the 2023 season featuring 17 total regular-season events. Royals fans and families will get a chance to catch the team in action at home on Dickson Field 10 times this spring.
"I'm really looking forward to our spring season," McQuilkin stated. "This group of women has put in a lot of work since August and we've had the opportunity to play against some very competitive teams this fall. Our players have learned a lot as both individuals and as a team, and are eager to keep the momentum of this fall going. We have a competitive out-of-conference schedule set for our first Division I season that will prepare us well for our ASUN competition. This team is hungry and determined to carry on the success of Queens lacrosse into the 2023 season."
The Royals will kick off their 2023 campaign on the road at Davidson on Feb. 4 before hosting Richmond for their home opener on Feb. 11. The game with the Spiders will be a part of the University's 2023 Homecoming festivities. Queens will then travel to Elon for a game on Feb. 15 before closing the month at home on Feb. 25 against East Carolina.
The Royals will then start the month of March with three home events facing Stone Hill, Winthrop, and Wofford in the Queen City. A game at Robert Morris on Mar. 18 will be the only road game of the month before Queens welcomes Presbyterian to Dickson Field on Mar. 25.
Queens will remain at home for the first part of April as they begin ASUN Conference play. Lindenwood, Delaware State, Liberty, and Kennesaw State will come to town before the Royals close out the regular season on the road. They will travel to Stetson on Apr. 20, Jacksonville on Apr. 22, and Coastal Carolina on Apr. 29.
The ASUN Women's Lacrosse Championship is scheduled to take place May 3-6 at Rock Stadium located on the campus of Jacksonville.
Along with this season being the Royals' first at the Division I level as a member of the ASUN, Coach McQuilkin is making her head coaching debut after being hired to lead the program in the Summer of 2022. The program made appearances in three of the last four national semifinals at the Division II level reaching the national championship game in 2021.
