Royals Fall in First-Ever Meeting with Blue Hens

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team hosted Delaware (11-4, 7-0) this afternoon, falling 15-4 to the Blue Hens. The Royals' record now sits at 3-11 on the year and 3-4 in Atlantic Sun Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blue Hens struck first, scoring at 12:36. Queens' Lexy Stevenson answered at 10:49 on a feed from Sienna Wyatt, giving the game its only tie of the day. A 3-0 run by the Blue Hens followed, extending their lead to three, 4-1, and forcing the Royals into a timeout.  After the short break, Kayleen Favreau and Sienna Wyatt teamed up to put back-to-back goals on the board for Queens, making it a one-goal game at 4-3 with less than five minutes to play in the quarter.
A late goal from Delaware in the opening period gave the visitors a 5-3 lead heading into the second quarter, where they outscored the Royals 7-1 to take a 12-4 lead into halftime.

Queens was able to turn up their defensive pressure at the start of the second half, holding the Blue Hens to just one goal at 10:39. The Royals answered with a goal at 8:51 from Michela Paterson, but three straight goals from Delaware followed to trigger the running clock.

The Blue Hens outscored Queens 3-2 in the final quarter to remain undefeated in league play.

KEY STATS & NOTES 
  • Sienna Wyatt totaled two goals and two assists for four points today, while Kayleen Favreau also totaled four points on one goal and three assists. Lexy Stevenson added two goals.
  • Defensively, Favreau, Molly O'Donnell, and Savannah Donahue each tallied two caused turnovers, while Donahue also recorded three ground balls.
  • In goal, Devan Maready recorded seven saves, three ground balls, and one caused turnover in 45 minutes of play.
  • Ella Rishko led the Blue Hens with four goals, while Morgan Gore and Callie Drab added three.
  • Steph Marszal recorded the win in goal for Delaware after totaling four saves.
  • The Blue Hens placed 26 shots on goal compared to Queens' 11.
  • Both teams totaled 18 ground balls and 17 turnovers.
  • Delaware controlled the circle, tallying 22 draw controls to Queens' six.

UP NEXT
Queens returns to Dickson Field this weekend for the final game of the regular season. They will host Liberty on April 18 at 1 p.m.
