Box Score Harrogate, Tenn. – In a tough road loss, Queens University of Charlotte (4-11, 2-8 SAC) women's basketball traveled to Lincoln Memorial (9-7, 6-4 SAC) on Saturday, January 17, 2015, to take on the Railsplitters in a defensive matchup that fell to Lincoln Memorial 64-44.
Tying a career high set last season against Carson-Newman,
Lacey Singletary knocked down seven shots further solidifying her seat at the top of the conference for blocks per game with 2.7. Singletary's night would be capped with five steals and 15 points to lead the team. She would take second on the floor in both categories only falling to the Railsplitter's Aisjah Lee who took 20 points and seven steals in the game.
It would be a defensive battle for the two teams as both worked to find baskets early in the game with the Royals taking five blocks in the first four minutes of play. Megan Pittman would break the stalemate giving the game its first point at 15:49. The defensive tussle left both teams looking for openings as they searched for answers on offense. The Railsplitters found their response first working their way into an 11-4 game before
Carmen Richardson broke up the 7-0 run. Lincoln Memorial pieced together another run, this time with eight unanswered points, as the game ticked down to under four minutes. The two teams would break for half with Queens trailing by 14 points as the Railsplitters took a 27-13 lead.
McKell Oliverio broke out the second half with a quick push through the paint to grab two points. A break finally came for the Royals when
Nikki Gleason put up a basket to bring the team within 10 points with 6:42 left to play. However, the Royals would be unable to hold control as Lincoln Memorial took a 7-0 run into the four minute mark to bring the game to 52-37. Although
Erin Brundage put up five points for the team, the Railsplitters would walk away from the game with a 64-44 score.
Queens continues their schedule on the road heading to Hickory, N.C., to take on Lenoir-Rhyne (5-9, 4-6 SAC) on Wednesday, January 21 at 6 p.m.
