Shira Shani Signs with Queens Women's Basketball Program

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball has signed Shira Shani, a guard from Givatayim, Israel.

"We're thrilled to welcome Shira to our program. She's an extremely talented player whose work ethic matches her ability. Shira is a crafty creator who has a unique feel for the game. She knows how to make plays for herself and her teammates," said Head coach Jenn Brown. "We love her understanding that success is built over time—through daily commitment, discipline, and growth. We're excited to see the impact she'll make on and off the court."

Shani, who stands 5-foot-6, played for Ort Givatayim and competed in Israel's club system with Maccabi Ramat Gan.

"I picked Queens because from the very beginning, it felt like the perfect place for me to grow both as a player and as a student," said Shani. "Connecting with the coaches and hearing about the team's culture and vision made it an easy decision. I can't wait to get to campus!"

She averaged 12.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in high school while shooting 39.6 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from three-point range, and 69.8 percent from the free-throw line.

At Maccabi Ramat Gan, Shani expanded her role as both a scorer and facilitator. She posted averages of 8.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game while shooting 51.2 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from three-point range, and 75.1 percent from the free-throw line. Her production, combined with experience against high-level competition, made her one of the club's most consistent contributors.

Throughout her career, Shani has filled multiple roles, contributing as a scorer, passer, rebounder, and defender. Her experience in both school and club competition has prepared her for the transition to NCAA Division I basketball.
