Late goal not enough for Royals

Box Score JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team found itself on the opposite end of a win streak tonight, collecting their second loss in a row, on the road at Carson-Newman College. The No. 11 Royals (11-3) drop to 8-2 in the South Atlantic Conference following the 2-1 loss, while the Eagles (9-4) improve to 6-4.

After trailing the Eagles, 1-0 for almost 60 minutes of action, the Royals would get on the board with a goal from sophomore midfielder Ryan King. King would take advantage of a poor clear by an Eagles defender, picking him off and firing from the top of the box for his first goal of the season.

King's goal would breathe life into the Royals, changing the entire game as each team increased their pressure on the offensive end looking for the game-winner.

That goal would come from the Eagles unfortunately with 89:04 on the clock. Ross Frame of Carson-Newman would be the one to score the game-winning-goal, shooting a one timer from the right side.

Queens was outshot 19-6 tonight. Montrell Morgan collected seven saves in goal en route to picking up his second loss of the season. He currently holds an 11-2 record on the year.

The Royals will look to get back on track at former conference foe Pfeiffer University on Thursday at 3 p.m.
