Queens and Jacksonville Finish in 1-1 Draw

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Men's Soccer battled for 90 minutes against Atlantic Sun Conference foe Jacksonville, with the rainy Saturday evening resulting in a 1-1 draw.

LAST TIME OUT
Earlier this week, a record-breaking night fueled Queens to a dominant 10-2 win over the William Peace Pacers on Tuesday (Sept. 8). 10 goals in a single match set a program record along with eight assists.

SCORING SUMMARY
17:58 – QUEENS – Cole Pumpian (Assist: Isaac Chromey)
75:52 – JACKSONVILLE – Matias Tobon (Assist: Iver Skorve)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Rainy conditions loomed throughout the night at the Queens Sports Complex. Play was suspended at the 27th minute of the first half due to lightning. Before the stoppage, the Royals were able to find the back of the net when freshman Isaac Chromey delivered a beautiful cross to the opposite side of the field to Cole
Pumpian, who placed the ball in the right corner of the goal to give Queens the 1-0 advantage.

Queens controlled the pace of play in the first half, out-shooting the Dolphins nine to four. Goalkeeper Simen Havig helped keep Jacksonville in the match totaling eight saves with four of them coming in each half. Meanwhile for Queens, sophomore Matthew Bademian made his first start of the season, ending the night with two saves.

Despite winning the shot battle 14 to six, Jacksonville's defensive back line continued to hold strong. In the 75th minute, Iver Skorve sent the ball into the box and found the head of Matias Tobon, who scored his fourth goal of the season to tie the match at 1-1. This proved to be the final scoring chance of the night for both sides.

UP NEXT
The Royals will return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 15) when they travel to Durham, N.C. to take on the Duke Blue Devils. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. streaming live on ACC Network Extra.
