DURHAM, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Men's Soccer came up short on the road in non-conference action on Tuesday night (Sept. 15) against Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Duke by a score of 2-0 at Koskinen Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Duke entered the night looking to end a four-game losing streak while Queens was coming off a 1-1 draw in a rainy Saturday night contest against Jacksonville. Urgency favored Duke in the first half as the Blue Devils totaled eight shots and accounted for roughly 63% of the half's possession.
The Queens defense held strong early in the first half as
Matthew Bademian got the start for the second consecutive match for the Royals. Duke's first three shot attempts were thwarted until the 25th minute, when Ethan Congleton's cross into the middle of the box found Jack Ottley, who was able to place the ball in the lower left corner to give Duke a 1-0 lead.
Later in the second half, Congleton was able to score himself on the right side of the field, escaping the Queens back line. His efforts helped propel Duke to end their four game losing skid.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Iker Erazo's two shots on goal were the lone attempts for Queens on Tuesday night. Bademian totaled four saves and played all 90 minutes alongside
Otto Gustafsson and
Valter Salavuo.
Duke outshot Queens 21 to six while winning the corner kick battle eight to one. The match was highly contested with a total of 35 fouls (18 for Queens, 17 for Duke).
