Queens set to host 2012 Conference Carolinas Lacrosse Championships

Competing will be Belmont Abbey, Limestone, Pfeiffer and Queens.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte is gearing up to host the 2012 Conference Carolinas Lacrosse Championships Friday, April 20-22 at the Queens Sports Complex. This will be the fourth consecutive year that Queens has been the home of the tournament which features a semifinal round and championship game on the each of the men's and women's sides.

The top four teams from each side advance to tournament play with Belmont Abbey, Limestone, Pfeiffer and Queens making it on each side.

Limestone's women take the number one seed after going a perfect 6-0 in conference play. There was a three-way tie between the remaining schools after they each finished with 4-2 league records. Tie breaker policies came into play and Belmont Abbey was awarded the number two seed, while Queens and Pfeiffer enter the tournament as the three and four, respectively. The women will begin play on Saturday at 1 p.m.

On the men's side, the Saints took the first place spot after going a perfect 5-0 in league play. Pfeiffer (4-1) is the two seed after falling to Limestone 8-7 in a game that came down to the wire for their regular season finale. Queens (3-2) and Belmont Abbey (2-3) take the three and four spots. The men's tournament will begin on Friday at 3 p.m.

Conference awards will be presented between semifinal round games on each day.
