Royals Recognized with ASUN Men’s Lacrosse Postseason Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Atlantic Sun Conference announced men's lacrosse postseason awards today with Queens University of Charlotte's Ryan McDaniel and Michael White earning spots on the All-ASUN Second Team. Additionally, Noah McGovern was honored on the All-Freshman Team.
 
White earns the second team nod for the second consecutive season after leading the Royals with 22 caused turnovers. The senior defender also ranked second on the squad in ground balls with 43. During the season, White totaled a career-high seven ground balls in two games and a career-high four caused turnover in one. At the close of the regular season, he ranked eighth in the league in ground balls per game (3.31) and total ground balls. He also earned ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honors once during the season.
 
McDaniel, a junior, is being recognized on the All-ASUN Team for the first time in his career after totaling 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points this year. He led the Royals in assists for the second straight year while also leading in points. The midfielder closed the season with a career-high five goals and seven points in Queens' game against Bellarmine. He also recorded a career-high five assists against Vermont, had five points in three games, and totaled three hat tricks this season. McDaniel was ranked seventh in the league in assists per game at the close of the regular season.
 
McGovern received recognition on the All-Freshman Team after totaling more than 100 saves in his career debut. The goalkeeper also recorded a career-high 19 saves in Queens' game with Mercer. McGovern ranked second in the ASUN in GAA (11.77), saves per game (11.40), and save percentage (.509) at the end of the regular season.
 
In addition to All-ASUN Teams being announced, the league released its list of Academic All-ASUN honorees with Grant Isika, Zach Miller, Carter Petersen, Ethan Scaffidi, Ty Schreck, and McDaniel earning recognition. The Academic All-ASUN recognizes student-athletes who excel both in competition and in the classroom. All student-athletes named to the list boast a 3.50 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
