Queens falls to Coker on the road

Box Score HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Queens University of Charlotte (6-9) dropped below .500 in conference play this evening with a 2-1 loss to Coker College giving them a 4-5 league record. Coker is now 11-3 on the year and 7-1 in Conference Carolinas play.

After a scoreless first half that saw just three total combined shots from the two teams, the Cobras scored two goals in the second to pull ahead of Queens, 2-0. Daniel Jackson beat Queens keeper Montrell Morgan (Charlotte, N.C., East Mecklengburg) to the ball to score a goal in the 55th after Matt Taylor chipped the ball over the Royals' back line. About 10 minutes later Jackson headed the ball into the net off of a free kick into the box.

The Royals got on the board late in the game when a foul inside the box allowed Erick Suárez (Mexico City, Mexico, Myers Park) to step up and score a penalty kick in the 89th.

Queens outshot the Cobras 9-7 with Suarez leading the Royals totaling four.

The Royals return home for Senior Night on Tuesday when they face Lincoln Memorial University at 7:30 p.m.
