CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (0-3-0) fell in a tightly contested 3-2 battle to Wofford College (1-0-1) on Saturday evening at the Queens Sports Complex. Despite holding a 22-7 advantage in shots and pulling within one late in the second half, the Royals' comeback effort came up just short.

Turning Point
Wofford opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Bradley Takamo's service found Adam Celik near the post, where he headed the ball into the right side of the net to give the Terriers an early 1-0 advantage. Queens answered seven minutes later following a corner into the center of the box. Nathan Tozzi connected on the initial attempt before Jaiden Anderson cleaned up the ensuing opportunity to level the match at 1-1. Wofford regained the advantage in the 35th minute when Mikey Hernandez connected with Franklin Spires at the back post for a header, sending the Terriers into halftime with a 2-1 lead. The Royals continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, but Wofford extended its advantage in the 77th minute when Takamo found Samuel Byron near the back post for what proved to be the game-winning goal. Queens responded less than four minutes later as Isaac Chromey connected with Luis Vera Mayorca to pull the Royals back within one.Queens continued searching for the equalizer in the closing minutes, including a Vitor Baptistelli attempt that struck the crossbar and a Rodrigo Canovas shot that forced a save, but Wofford held on for the 3-2 decision.
