Every player scored in the 60-53 win

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team won its 10th game of the season, the best since the 2002-2003 campaign, Saturday night at the Grady Cole Center.

Queens (10-8 overall/9-4 Conference Carolinas) beat Anderson University (8-10 overall/8-6 Conference Carolinas) 60-53 in the Royals homecoming game.

The game was a race up and down the court with each team being plagued by turnovers and missed baskets in the first half. Queens forced 10 turnovers and were able to convert them into 10 points, while Anderson forced eight but only earned three points from them.

From the floor, Anderson shot 31.0% (9-29) and Queens was 33.3% (7-21).

The two teams exchanged the lead 11 times and where even six times. Anderson came out ahead at the end of the first 23-22.

Again in the second half the foot race was on. The teams were up and down the court, this time making basket and exchanging the lead.

Jazmine Edmonds (Manassas, Va., CD Hylton) made a field goal at 9:05 to give Queens a two point lead, 40-38. The Royals took the lead and ran with it.

Queens opened a 10 point gap with 23 seconds left, but a three-pointer by Ashley Abed with four ticks left made the final score 60-53.

Each Queens player who stepped on the floor tonight contributed points. Shakendra Hicks (Rock Hill, S.C., Rock Hill) led the team with 10 points and six boards. Shakendra Hicks (Rock Hill, S.C., Rock Hill) and Cecilia Tchangoue (St. Jean Le Blanc, France, Forsyth Country Day) each had nine points.

Anderson was led by Keena Boyd with 17.

This season is shaping up to be one of the best for Queens since the 2002-2003 campaign when they were 11-17 overall. In conference play  this ties the most wins in recent years as last season when they went 9-11. During the 2001-2002 effort the Royals were 15-5 in league play.
