Cianna Papineau Signs with Queens Women’s Basketball Program

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball has added a proven scoring guard to its roster with the signing of Cianna Papineau, a 5-foot-8 sophomore from Onondaga Nation Territory, located outside Syracuse, New York.

Head Coach Jen Brown is pleased to welcome her new guard: "Cianna is a dynamic guard who impacts the game on both ends of the floor. I love her ability to score the ball at all three levels. Cianna brings a level of maturity that's rare, and we're excited about the presence she'll add to our program right away. We're looking forward to her making an immediate impact on our team."

Papineau joins the Royals after a strong stint at Union College of New Jersey, where she emerged as one of the team's most consistent offensive threats and playmakers. A product of Lafayette High School, she brings a balanced game that combines scoring efficiency, perimeter shooting, and play making ability.

"I chose Queens because of the team culture. You can really see how connected everyone is, from the coaches to the players. I felt nothing but respect from everyone, and it made me feel like I truly belonged. That's what made me want to be a part of it," Papineau said.

During her sophomore season, Papineau averaged 12.2 points per game while shooting an efficient 46.3 percent from the field, 35.8 percent from three-point range, and 79.4 percent from the free-throw line. She also contributed 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, highlighting her versatility as a guard who can both score and facilitate.

Papineau recorded multiple standout performances throughout the season, including a 19-point outing against Lackawanna College and a 17-point performance versus Harcum College, where she showcased her ability to score at all three levels. She reached double figures in scoring consistently and demonstrated efficiency in key moments, including shooting over 60 percent from the field in several contests.

During her freshman season at Onondaga Community College Papineau averaged 10 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game while shooting 41.4 percent from the field and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line, appearing in 32 games with 31 starts.

Off the court, Papineau plans to major in Health Science, continuing her commitment to academic success alongside her athletic career.
