JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Queen University of Charlotte women's basketball team (10-19, 4-14 ASUN) is set to make its ASUN Tournament debut on Tuesday, March 3
rd, inside UNF Arena on the campus of North Florida. Queens enters the tournament as the No. 11 seed and will square off against No. 6 North Alabama (16-13, 11-7 ASUN).

THE MATCHUPS
The ASUN Tournament First Round matchup will be the seventh all-time meeting, and third this season, between Queens and North Alabama. The Lions hold a 5-1 series advantage and have won both meetings this season. After falling by three in their first showing this season, Queens got a balanced scoring attack in their last meeting with six Royals pouring in 7+points, but Alexsandra Alvarado countered with a game-high 23 points for the Lions to lead North Alabama to a 71-55 victory.
SCOUTING THE ROYALS (10-19 overall, 4-14 ASUN)
- Tuesday night will be a piece of Royals history as they make their first ASUN Tournament appearance since joining the league in 2022.
- The Queens offense is pouring in 59.5 points per game on a balanced scoring attack as five Royals are averaging at least 6.5 points per game.
- The Royals have been one of the best three-point shooting squads in the ASUN with a 31-percent clip, a mark that ranks fourth in the league. In a 100-48 victory over Bellarmine, junior Alyssa Lewis connected on 10 threes, breaking the single-game program. The 10 triples led the Royals on a night when they made a program record 17 three-pointers.
- Jermany Mapp leads the team at 11.1 points per game while also ranking second on the roster with 49 made three-pointers. Mapp has totaled 321 points this season and eclipsed 1,000 career points on February 12th at Austin Peay.
- Ana Barreto leads Queens with 56 made three-pointers, averaging 9.1 points per game, and has logged over 32 minutes per game, the highest on the roster.
- Dayuna Colvin directs the offense, averaging 9.2 points per game while leading the team with 87 assists and ranking second in minutes played.
- Brenae Jones-Grant provides interior support on both sides of the ball, shooting 49.4 percent from the field and pulling down 6.1 rebounds per game.
- Queens averages 35.7 rebounds per game, with 10 games of 35 or more rebounds this season. The Royals rank sixth in the league in offensive rebounds per game, bringing down 11.3 per game. Hannah Hicks ranks third in the league in offensive rebounds per game with 2.6.
- Defensively, the Royals average 7.6 steals and 2.8 blocks per game, forcing 16.7 turnovers per contest, but opponents are shooting 42 percent from the field.
SCOUTING THE LIONS (16-13 overall, 11-7 ASUN)
- North Alabama enters the ASUN Tournament as the No. 6 seed following a 16-13 season, and 11-7 record against league opponents.
- The Lions have found a groove late, winning seven of their last 10 games, including a four-overtime thriller last outing against West Georgia (118-107).
- North Alabama crashes the boards effectively as the Lions rank second in the conference with 39.3 rebounds per game.
- The ball does not stick with the Lions as they distribute the second most assists per game in the league at 14.3. The ball movement is leading to 65.2 points per game which is seventh in the league.
- Alexsandra Alvarado is the player to watch for North Alabama as the redshirt senior leads the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game, a mark that ranks 10th in the league.
