Royals Seek First Win in Series as Jacksonville Comes to Curry Arena

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens opens a two-game ASUN homestand on Thursday night with a 6 p.m. matchup against Jacksonville at Curry Arena, marking the Royals first home conference game of the season. Queens enters at 7–6 overall and 1–1 in league play, coming off a road split to open ASUN action. The Royals are averaging 62.7 points per game while shooting 36.7 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three, connecting on 7.2 triples per contest.

THE MATCHUPS

Queens and Jacksonville meet for the fifth time, with JU holding a 4–0 edge in the series. The Dolphins have claimed wins in each of the last three seasons, including a 83-76 decision in Jacksonville last January.

SCOUTING THE ROYALS (7–6 overall, 1-1 ASUN)
  •  Queens enters their third ASUN play averaging 62.7 points per game, shooting 36.7 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from three, with 7.2 made three-pointers per contest.
  • The Royals are pulling down 39.3 rebounds per game, playing opponents essentially even on the glass, while generating second-chance opportunities through consistent offensive rebounding.
  • Defensively, Queens averages 7.2 steals and 3.4 blocks per game, using active perimeter pressure and interior rim protection to disrupt opposing offenses. 
  • Brenae Jones-Grant continues to anchor the frontcourt, leading Queens to 14.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. She leads the ASUN in both field goal percentage and rebounding, providing a consistent interior presence on both ends.
  • Ana Barreto supplies perimeter scoring and spacing, averaging 11.7 points per game while shooting 36.3 percent from three. She leads the team in minutes played and ranks among the conference leaders in making three-pointers. 
  • Jermany Mapp adds 9.7 points per game and steady backcourt leadership, shooting 91.3 percent from the free throw line and sitting within reach of the 1,000-career-point milestone (878). 
  • Dayuna Colvin serves as Queens primary facilitator, averaging 8.5 points and 3.2 assists per game, while consistently attacking the paint and creating opportunities for teammates. 
  • Hannah Hicks provides physicality inside, averaging 6.1 points and 7.0 rebounds, and leads the team in blocks, giving Queens a reliable defensive presence in the post.
SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS (9-4 overall, 1-1 ASUN)
  • Jacksonville enters Thursday with a 9–4 overall record and a 1–1 mark in ASUN play, including wins over Georgia Tech, FIU, and Coastal Carolina.
  • The Dolphins average 69.3 points per game while allowing 67.8, posting a +1.5 scoring margin. Jacksonville shoots 39.0 percent from the field and 29.8 percent from three, knocking down 4.7 three-pointers per contest.
