CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte makes the short trip to Spartanburg on Wednesday to face USC Upstate in non-conference action. The Royals enter the match on a two-game win streak after defeating Gardner-Webb and Sacred Heart at the Spartan Classic.
Outside hitter Emma Norris has been a steady force to open the year, averaging 3.27 kills per set on .443 hitting, while libero Tilley Collins anchors the defense with a team-best 4.64 digs per set.
USC Upstate also sits at 2–1 after notching sweeps over Tennessee State and Northwestern State this past weekend. Middle blocker Ady O'Grady leads the Spartans' attack at 3.40 kills per set on an impressive .542 clip, with setter Kamyla Vega David distributing 8.64 assists per set. The Spartans have been dangerous from the service line as well, averaging nearly three aces per set.

Queens is riding momentum after picking up back-to-back wins at the Spartan Classic. The Royals first took down Gardner-Webb, 3–1, on Aug. 29, snapping a six-match skid against the Runnin' Bulldogs and earning Head Coach Matt Stolz his first career win. Emma Norris led the attack with 14 kills, while Elizabeth Layson and Ellis Sargent combined for 17 kills and seven blocks in the middle. The following day, Queens kept rolling with a 3–0 sweep of Sacred Heart. Norris again paced the Royals with 13 kills on a .440 clip, while setter Tyler Peluso distributed 21 assists. Libero Tilley Collins commanded the back row with 20 digs as Queens limited the Pioneers to a .157 hitting clip to close out the weekend.
