JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team was recognized with a trio of ASUN postseason honors on Wednesday, as announced by the league office.
Laurenz Blickwede was named to the All-ASUN First Team,
Win Steveker earned a spot on the ASUN All-Academic Team, and freshman
Jan Montero Diaz was selected to the ASUN All-Freshman Team.
"I am really proud of the way these guys finished the season," said head coach
Alex Leatu. "Renzo with his second year being named on the All-ASUN team, Jan for being recognized as a stand-out freshman, and Win showing how academics correlate with on-court success."
A native of Gifhorn, Germany, senior
Laurenz Blickwede, capped off a decorated career by earning First Team All-ASUN honors after anchoring the Royals at the top of the lineup. Blickwede posted a 13-8 overall record and a 4-4 mark in conference play while competing exclusively at the No. 1 singles position. Blickwede notched notable wins against James Madison, Mercer, Bellarmine, and Lipscomb, finishing the season with victories in six of his last 10 matches.. A two-time All-ASUN selection, Blickwede previously earned Second Team recognition in 2023. Blickwede finishes his career with an impressive 49 singles victories, one of the highest totals in the program's Division I era.
A senior from Wuppertal, Germany,
Win Steveker, was named to the ASUN All-Academic Team in recognition of his excellence both on the court and in the classroom. A dual major in Mathematics and Data Analytics, Steveker carries a 3.61 cumulative GPA. On the court, he recorded a 13-8 singles record and a 4-4 mark in ASUN play at the No. 2 position. In doubles, Steveker teamed up with
Jan Montero Diaz at the No. 1 spot to notch a team-best 8-7 record. Early in the season, Steveker put together a six-match winning streak. A consistent contributor throughout his career, Steveker leaves Queens with 43 career singles victories.
"For the seniors, they're leaving a solid foundation for the years to come, and Jan has set a strong standard for himself and his teammates," added Leatu.
Jan Montero Diaz earned ASUN All-Freshman Team honors following a promising debut season. Hailing from Barcelona, Spain, competing primarily at No. 3 singles, Montero Diaz earned two conference wins and showcased maturity beyond his years in high-level matchups, finishing the year with six wins overall. Montero Diaz also partnered with Steveker at No. 1 doubles, where the freshman-senior duo became one of the Royals most reliable pairings, finishing with an 8-7 record against top-line competition.
