Queens Faces Stetson in Play4Kay Game, Aiming for Key ASUN Win

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens returns to Curry Arena for a Saturday afternoon showdown against Stetson at 2 p.m. The Royals will look to avenge their 69-61 loss to the Hatters earlier this season. Saturday's game is also the Play4Kay game, presented by Atrium Health, where fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause.

THE MATCHUPS
This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season, with Stetson winning the first matchup 69-61 at home on January 4. Queens kept the game competitive throughout, but Stetson's Cameron Thomas, who finished with a game-high 18 points, proved to be the difference.

Jordyn Weaver led the Royals with 16 points and eight rebounds. Dayuna Colvin also contributed with 12 points, while Ana Barreto added eight points in the first meeting.

SCOUTING THE ROYALS (8-18 overall, 2-13 ASUN)
  • Queens University looks to bounce back and even the season series against Stetson in Saturday's rematch at Curry Arena. The Royals have not found the results they wanted in conference play but have remained competitive in several close contests.

  • Jordyn Weaver has been a key offensive force for the Royals, averaging 14.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 49.0% from the field. Weaver provides a strong presence in the paint and has recorded three games with 20 or more points this season, including a season-high 26 points at Gardner-Webb.
  • Aylesha Wade plays a crucial role as one of Queens top playmakers, averaging 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. Wade showcased her ability to take over a game when she dropped a career-high 27 points at Jacksonville.
  • Kemia Ward is a dominant force in the paint for the Royals, averaging 7.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game while shooting an impressive 53.3% from the field. A defensive anchor, she ranks second in the ASUN in blocks this season.
  • Jermany Mapp is a two-way contributor for the Royals, averaging 8.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. Mapp is also one of the Royals most reliable perimeter scorers with 24 made threes on the season.
SCOUTING THE HATTERS (15-12 overall, 9-6 ASUN)
  •  Stetson enters the matchup with a 15-12 overall record (9-6 ASUN), currently positioning themselves in the middle of the ASUN standings.
  • The Hatters have posted an 11-2 home record and hold 3-9 away record.
  • Offensively, Stetson averages 68.1 points per game, shooting 40.9% from the field and 30.6% from three-point range.
  • Defensively, Stetson allows 68.1 points per game, with opponents shooting 39.0% from the field and 27.7% from three.
  • The Hatters have a slight rebounding disadvantage, getting out-rebounded by an average of 1.9 boards per game.
  • The Stetson defense generates 7.9 steals and 3.4 blocks per game, showing their ability to create turnovers and protect the rim.
  • Stetsons offense is led by Cameron Thomas, who averages 17.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 48.6% from the field. A versatile scorer, Thomas can attack the basket or stretch the floor with her 37.9% three-point shooting, having knocked down 35 threes in ASUN play.   • Running the offense is Mary McMillan, the team's primary facilitator. Averaging 9.4 points and 4.1 assists per game, McMillan leads Stetson with 111 total assists this season. She also contributes on defense with 24 steals.
