Royals Open ASUN Play at Bellarmine on Thursday Night

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens opens ASUN Conference play on Thursday night with a 6:30 p.m. road matchup at Bellarmine in Louisville. The Royals enter league action at 6–5 following a 60–35 home win over USC Upstate on December 20. Through eleven games, Queens is averaging 64.4 points per game while pulling down 39.6 rebounds, playing to an even rebounding margin.

THE MATCHUPS
Queens and Bellarmine meet for the fourth time, with Bellarmine holding a 3–0 advantage in the all-time series. The Knights won the most recent matchup on Jan. 8, 2025, a 71–67 decision in Charlotte.

SCOUTING THE ROYALS (6–5 overall, 0-0 ASUN)
  •  Queens enters ASUN play at 6–5 overall, averaging 64.4 points per game while allowing 64.5.
  • Offensively, the Royals are shooting 38.4 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from three, connecting on 7.5 three-pointers per game, a strength that has fueled wins in six of their last eight contests.
  • On the glass, Queens averages 39.6 rebounds per game, playing opponents even on the boards overall. The Royals have recorded six games with 40 or more rebounds. Defensively, Queens generates 7.7 steals and 3.3 blocks per game.
  • Brenae Jones-Grant continues to be the focal point inside, leading the team with 15.1 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting 60.8 percent from the field. She leads the ASUN and ranks 16th nationally in field goal percentage, has posted three double-doubles, and earned ASUN Newcomer of the Week honors following her performance at Western Carolina.
  • Ana Barreto provides perimeter scoring and stability, averaging 12.1 points per game while knocking down 29 three-pointers at a 35.4 percent clip. She leads the team in minutes played and has added 33 assists and 17 steals.
  • Jermany Mapp contributes 9.8 points per game, with 18 made threes and elite efficiency at the line, shooting 90.0 percent (18-for-20). She continues to close in on the 1,000-career-point milestone.
  • Dayuna Colvin serves as the primary facilitator, averaging 9.0 points and 3.6 assists per game, while leading the roster with 40 assists and converting 79.1 percent from the free-throw line.
  • Hannah Hicks anchors the defensive glass with 7.0 rebounds per game and has added 14 blocks, providing interior defense and second-chance opportunities.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (2-11 overall, 0-0 ASUN)
  • Bellarmine opens ASUN play with a 2–11 overall record and a 1–3 mark at home, having played one of the most demanding non-conference schedules in the league, including road games at Louisville, Illinois, Chattanooga, Arizona, Notre Dame, and Ohio State.
  • The Knights were picked ninth in the ASUN Preseason Coaches' Poll and are led by first-year head coach Monique Reid, who is making her conference debut at the helm.
  • Offensively, Bellarmine is averaging 55.2 points per game while shooting 31.9 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from three. The Knights make 6.2 three-pointers per contest.
  • Triniti Ralston leads the Knights in scoring at 13.9 points per game while shooting 36.5 percent from the floor and 86.6 percent at the free-throw line. She also ranks second on the team in assists with 37.
  • Rose Jamison has emerged as Bellarmine's top perimeter scorer late in the non-conference slate, averaging 9.2 points per game and posting her two highest scoring outputs of the season in the last two games with 20 points against Arizona and 17 against Notre Dame.
  • Sophomore guard Ava Smith is one of the league's most active perimeter shooters, ranking tied for fifth in the ASUN with 23 made three-pointers while averaging 8.0 points per game.
  • Bellarmine averages 34.7 rebounds per game but faces a significant challenge on the glass, owning a –10.9 rebounding margin and allowing opponents to average 45.6 boards per contest.
  • Defensively, Bellarmine allows 80.8 points per game and opponents to shoot 43.1 percent from the field, with teams converting 7.8 three-pointers per game.
