Queens Welcomes Bellarmine to Curry Arena for ASUN Home Opener

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Royals are set to return to Curry Arena on Wednesday, January 8, for their ASUN home opener against Bellarmine. After the opening weekend of ASUN action, the Royals hold a 6-7 overall record and are 0-2 in conference play. Bellarmine, meanwhile, enters the matchup with a 10-5 overall record and a 1-1 mark in ASUN competition.Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the game available to stream live on ESPN+. Queens University faculty and staff are encouraged to attend, as the women's basketball team will recognize and honor them throughout the evening.

THE MATCHUPS
This will mark the third meeting between the two teams in their series history, with Queens looking to avenge last season's 76-85 loss in Louisville. Jordyn Weaver finished with a 10 point and 11 eleven rebound double-double performance in the first ever meeting with the Knights in Curry Arena in 2023.

SCOUTING THE ROYALS (6-7 overall, 0-2 ASUN)
  • The Royals are looking to earn their first ASUN victory after two tough losses last week against FGCU and Stetson.
  • After securing her 13th double figure scoring performance of the season, Jordyn Weaver enters the game as Queens leading scorer and rebounder. Averaging 14.4 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game, Weaver is a consistent presence on both ends of the floor, shooting an efficient 48.3 percent from the field.
  • Queens averages 68.5 PPG while allowing 70.2 PPG, resulting in a narrow -1.8 scoring margin. The Royals shoot 38.2 percent from the field and 27.0 percent from three-point range, with room for improvement in offensive efficiency.
  • Queens is averaging 14.6 offensive rebounds, leading the ASUN with 190 total offensive boards after 13 games.
  • Defensively the Royals rank second in the ASUN with 125 steals and rank fifth as a team in blocked shots with 38.
  • In the last two games, Dayuna Colvin averaged 7.0 points per game while playing 19.5 minutes per contest. She shot 27.8 percent from the field and converted all four of her free-throw attempts combined in both games last week. Colvin currently ranks fourth in the ASUN with a .784 percent free-throw percentage.
  • Kaitlyn Adams provided a solid spark off the bench for Queens in her last outings at FGCU and Stetson. Adams averaged 7.0 points per game while shooting an efficient 57.1 percent from the field and an impressive 85.7 percent from the free-throw line.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (10-5 overall, 1-1 ASUN)
  • The Stetson Hatters secured a 79-64 victory over the West Georgia Wolves in their ASUN opener at the Insight Credit Union Arena on Thursday night. The Hatters saw a strong contribution from their bench, which accounted for 34 points, and four players scored in double figures for just the second time this season.
  • Bellarmine split last week in conference play, falling 90-89 to North Alabama in overtime before defeating Central Arkansas 68-60, both at home.
  • Head coach Chancellor Dugan enters her 13th season helming the Knights in 2024-25. Dugan recorded her 500th career head-coaching win Dec. 12 in Bellarmine's 67-66 home win over Chattanooga.
  • Leading the charge is Preseason All-ASUN guard Hayley Harrison, who averages 15.6 points per game while shooting an efficient 41.5 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from beyond the arc. Harrison also contributes 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game, making her a key player on both ends of the floor. Harrison is 7 points shy of becoming the 29th member of BU's 1,000-point club.
  • Hope Sivori is another Bellarmine standout guard with 13.3 PPG, a remarkable .913 free-throw percentage, and 2.0 steals per game. Sivori averaged 18.0 points in the first two ASUN games.
  • Graduate student Skylar Treadwell adds 10.3 PPG and dominates the boards with 7.8 rebounds per game. Treadwell ranks third in the ASUN in rebounding and posted her third double-double against UCA (14 pts, 13 reb).
  • As a team, Bellarmine averages 75.5 points per game, maintaining a scoring margin of +5.3 over their opponents. After 15 games the Knights are shooting 39.6 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from three.
  • On the defensive end, Bellarmine forces 20.3 turnovers per game while averaging 9.2 steals, leveraging a turnover margin of +5.1 to create extra scoring opportunities.
