CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team will kick off its 2025 campaign tomorrow at Dickson Field hosting Mount St. Mary's University. A win over the Mountaineers would be the first season opening win for the Royals since Queens began the transition process two seasons ago.
  
THE ROYALS 
The Royals were picked to finish sixth in the 2025 ASUN Preseason Men's Lacrosse Coaches Poll after finishing with a 2-11 overall record a season ago.
 
Senior 
Jack Royer is the only one of the Royals' top three scorers returning from a season ago. The attacker recorded 23 points last season with 20 goals and three assists. Senior 
Ryan Lightsey has the most goals behind Royer with 10. 
Ryan McDaniel also returns after totaling 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists while 
Ethan Scaffidi recorded 10 goals and four assists for 14 points.
 
Senior captain 
Jacob Schreck returns to lead the Royals' defensive unit after leading Queens in caused turnovers last season with 22. 
Deacon Adams will also return to the field after totaling 11 caused turnovers.
 
Inside the cage, 
Nicky West and 
Gage Turner will be looked upon after the Royals lost their starting goalie to graduation. Other goalkeepers on the roster that could make an impact on the field include freshman 
Dylan Axman and senior 
Jayson Alexander.
 
ABOUT THE MOUNT
Mount St. Mary's was picked to finish seventh in the MAAC after posting a record of 1-14 last year.
 
Leading scorer Brody Atkinson returns after totaling 43 points on 30 goals and 13 assists. He is the only one of The Mount's top two scorers that returned. Will McKay (12) and Kevin Whitty (11) follow with 12 and 11 goals, respectively.

THE ACTION
The Royals' season opener is scheduled to begin at noon tomorrow at Dickson Field. It is also Youth Day for the Royals which means anyone 12 and under will receive free admission into the game.
