Royals Head to Spartanburg for Wofford Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team heads into the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. this weekend, eager to build on their competitive showing at the Seahawk Classic. Despite a 0-3 finish against East Carolina (0-3), Loyola University Maryland (1-3), and UNC Wilmington (0-3), the Royals displayed growth highlighted by senior libero Jesse George, who earned All-Tournament honors for her 23-dig, five-ace performance over the three-match weekend. The Royals will be tested against two 1-2 squads in Wofford, reigning 2023 SoCon Tournament Champion, and Presbyterian. The Royals haven't faced Wofford or Presbyterian since the 1990s (1994 and 1999, respectively). The Camels and the Royals will face off for the first time in history on Sept. 7.

LAST TIME OUT
- Against East Carolina: Jordyn Johnson led Queens with seven kills and nine digs. Kayla McDuffie contributed two blocks. Queens recorded 21 kills across the match, compared to East Carolina's 48. 
- Against Loyola Maryland: Marlee Cook had a phenomenal outing as her first in a Royals uniform, putting up a double-double of 27 assists and 14 digs. Joining Cook was J. Johnson who snagged a double-double performance of her own with 11 kills and 12 digs.  Alleigh Johnson led the offense in the second match of the day with 12 kills. Additionally, Queens out-hit the Greyhounds overall in the match with a .188 hitting percentage compared to Loyola Maryland's .163.
- Against UNC Wilmington: A. Johnson led the Royals with her first double-double of the season: 11 kills and 11 digs. Kendall Buish also added 8 assists and 11 digs. After her commendable defense on the weekend, Jesse George was named to the UNC Seahawk Classic All-Tournament team.
