CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team heads back home for their home-opening weekend in the annual Queens Fall Classic (Presented by Home2Suites) featuring USC Upstate (Big South), Davidson (A-10), and William & Mary (CAA).
Coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Wofford Invitational, the Royals look to get back into the win column after battling Campbell in five sets this past Saturday. Highlighting the weekend was a 3-2 defeat over Presbyterian and two double-double performances from sophomore Anna Grace Sparks.
All matches this weekend will be streamed on ESPN Plus, and live statistic coverage will be available on StatBroadcast.
LAST TIME OUT
- Against Wofford: Sparks led with 10 kills and a .276 hitting percentage against the reigning SoCon Tournament Champions. Her performance improved dramatically after the first set, becoming a key offensive threat in the second and third frames. Queens had five total blocks in the showing, with McDuffie (2) and A. Johnson (2) leading the defense at the net.
- Against Presbyterian: Sparks led all players with 26 kills, a career-high for the sophomore. Sparks also recorded the first double-double of her career, notching 19 digs to pair with her 26 kills. Jordyn Johnson took home a double-double as well, tabbing 12 kills and 22 digs. Alleigh Johnson (19) and Kayla McDuffie (12) also joined the double-digit kills list on the night. Kendall Buish tallied 50 assists, which led all players in the match. Queens' win marked their first-ever victory over Presbyterian — Presbyterian and Queens have battled eight times over the span of 28 years, with their last meeting on Sept. 7, 1999.
- Against Campbell: Queens recorded 55 kills with a hitting percentage of .133 against the Camels. Emma Norris, ECU transfer, led Queens with nine blocks. Despite the 3-2 loss, Anna Grace Sparks picked up another double-double of 15 kills and 18 digs - earning her a spot on the Wofford Invitational Tournament Team.
