Jacksonville, Fla. – Queens University of Charlotte Women's Track and Field athlete
Emily Skaar was recognized on the 2024 Spring Winners for Life team, as officially announced by the league this afternoon.
"Emily has consistently demonstrated excellence in the classroom, maintaining high academic standards while balancing her athletic commitments," said Director of Cross Country and Track and Field
Dragan Pesic. "She is also deeply involved in our community, volunteering her time and energy to make a positive impact. I am incredibly proud of Emily and all she has achieved. Her recognition is well-deserved and reflects the strength of our program and the caliber of student-athletes we are fortunate to have."
Skaar competed in the 100-meter dash, long jump, and triple jump at meets throughout the season, such as the Charlotte 49er Classic and the 2024 Charlotte Invitational. The freshman set personal bests in all three this season, notching a time of 14.80 in the 100m at the VertKlasse Meeting, as well as a 4.39-meter-long jump and a 9.54-meter-triple jump at the Southside Power & Fitness Invitational.
In the classroom, Skaar holds an impressive 3.96 overall GPA while majoring in Exercise Science. Skaar is involved on campus as a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and the treasurer for the Student-Athlete Advisory Counsel for the 2023-2024 school year, among other things. Skaar was actively involved in the community by volunteering with Gift of Life, American Red Cross, and Heart Math Tutoring.
The 2024 Spring Winners for Life team is composed of one student-athlete from all 12 institutions and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface. The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen who is respected as one who shared and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility and Sportsmanship.
To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN-sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
