Game Notes & Fast Facts - QUEENS ROYALS
- The Royals are coming off one of their best weekends of the season, claiming two-of-three games over North Florida - a team that was undefeated in conference play before traveling to Charlotte.
- Autumn Courtney had one of the best performances in her career this past week — specifically on Saturday, when the sophomore pitched a perfect game against ASUN competitor North Florida to clinch the series consisting of 10 strikeouts, zero walks, and zero hits in seven innings pitched for the 2-0 victory.
- The perfect game marks the first no-hitter of her career, and the first no-hitter for Queens in the Division I era. Before Saturday, Courtney marked herself as the leader in strikeouts in all of Division I with 158 Ks, earning 12 in the Tuesday victory against Western Carolina.
- In her last four outings, she only allowed nine hits in 23 innings pitched. To date, she leads the ASUN in total strikeouts (179) and sits with 54 strikeouts ahead of second place. She also currently leads the country in strikeouts (despite Queens' reclassification status) ahead of NiJaree Canady from Stanford (172).
Scouting the Opponent — CENTRAL ARKANSAS SUGAR BEARS
- The Sugar Bears knocked off Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Wednesday 9-0. The win stretched Central Arkansas' winning streak to six games.
- After losing their first four Atlantic Sun games, due to a sweep to Eastern Kentucky and an opening loss in the Austin Peay series, the Sugar Bears have now won their last five conference games. They won the last two games at Austin Peay and then swept Stetson a week ago in Conway, Ark.
- Central Arkansas has the worst team ERA in the ASUN at 5.12. That number is also outside the top 250 in all of Division I this season. In conference play though the Sugar Bears are seventh in ERA (4.08).
- Junior infielder Kylie Griffin leads the Central Arkansas offense in numerous categories that also have her near the top of the ASUN leaderboard. She is fourth in hits (42), fifth in batting average (.389), sixth in OBP (.455), and tenth in runs (22).
