THE SHORT STORY
Queens dropped the series finale at FGCU, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon. After falling behind early, the Royals responded with runs in the middle innings but couldn't complete the comeback.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FGCU jumped out early, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding four more in the second to take a 6-0 lead. Queens answered in the third, as Lindsay Henson delivered a two-RBI double to center to get the Royals on the board. Queens added another in the fourth when Madison Cantoni doubled home Lilia Alpuche to cut the deficit to 6-3. The Royals threatened again in the fourth with the bases loaded but were turned away at the plate on a double play. FGCU held Queens off the board the rest of the way to secure the win.
AT THE PLATE
Madison Cantoni led the Royals with a 2-for-3 performance, including a double and an RBI. Lindsay Henson added a double and two RBIs, while Queens drew five walks and totaled four hits on the day.
IN THE CIRCLE
Addison Kluck took the loss, allowing six runs, three earned, in 1.0 inning of work. Kooper Barnes provided a strong relief outing, tossing 5.0 shutout innings and allowing just four hits.
