Royals Look to Take On Catamounts on Tuesday Afternoon

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Queens University of Charlotte softball team will look to bounce back in their non-conference doubleheader against Western Carolina slated for a 1:00 PM start on Tuesday, March 26.

All games will be streamed on ESPN Plus and statistical coverage can be found from StatBroadcast, linked on the Queens Softball Schedule tab.

Game Notes & Fast Facts - QUEENS ROYALS
- The Royals are coming off a tough weekend to open up home conference play against North Alabama. The Lions took all three games on Sunday and Monday (0-6, 0-1, 0-9).
- Despite the tough weekend, Kayla Smith and Ashlyn Mickler still lead the way on offense for the Royals. Kayla Smith leads the team with total RBI (14) and slugging percentage (.407) while Ashlyn Mickler leads the team in overall batting average (.309). The second base/shortstop duo has combined for 44 hits on the season thus far.
- Sophomore pitcher Autumn Courtney is inching closer to the top mark in Division I in strikeouts this season. Courtney has struck out 146 batters so far and only NiJaree Canady of Stanford has struck out more (152).

Scouting the Opponent — WESTERN CAROLINA CATAMOUNTS
- The Catamounts are on a four-game losing streak, including a sweep by SoCon rival Furman (8-9, 1-7, 4-5) over the weekend to open conference play. The losing streak began with a home loss to then No. 7 ranked Tennessee, 6-0, last Thursday in Cullowhee, N.C.
- Western Carolina hasn't won a true road game all season long. They are 0-6 and have been outscored 37-17. The Catamounts have lost ten consecutive road games going back to last season, as their last true road win was April 22, 2023 at Mercer when they swept a conference doubleheader over the Bears in Macon, GA (5-2, 2-1).
- As a team, WCU has the third-best batting average in the SoCon (.280).
