CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team is scheduled to begin their 2024 campaign on Saturday, February 10 at VMI located in Lexington, Va. The game with the Keydets is scheduled to begin at noon on Drill Field #2.
ABOUT QUEENS
- Queens is led by first-year head coach Nik Colpitts, who spent the majority of the Royals' first DI season as an assistant coach.
- The Royals completed their first DI campaign with a 2-12 record.
- Jack Royer led the Royals last season with 34 points on 20 goals and 14 assists. Brendan Nace also returns after totaling 23 points on 14 goals and nine assists. Hunter Meyer added 20 points on 16 goals and four assists.
ABOUT VMI
- The Keydets are led by James Purpura, who is in his fourth season at VMI.
- VMI opened its year with a 12-11 overtime loss to Cleveland State at home.
- VMI faceoff specialist Jack Rogers and goalie Adam Norris to the Preseason All-MAAC team.
LAST MEETING
The Royals and the Keydets met for the first time last season with VMI coming out on top, 10-9, in double overtime.
Hunter Meyer scored four goals in the game while
Jack Royer added one goal and three assists. VMI senior Scout Ripley scored the game-winning goal to send VMI home as victors.
