From Coach Pesic
"Our team faced some tough challenges, especially with our top decathletes getting injured early on, but it was incredible to see how everyone rallied. Robin Ott stepped up and took third place in the heptathlon, setting a positive tone for the day. Heloise Louise continued as she won third place in the high jump. Emilija Kusic also had a standout moment, grabbing 7th in place 60m hurdles finals. Jalena Curbeam and Michael Quigley gave it their all, with Jalena finishing 6th in the triple jump and Michael securing 7th place.

We were so close to medals in the shot put, especially with Ines Safont missing the bronze by just 18cm. Our distance team had an outstanding day, showcasing remarkable performances and breaking several personal records. It was inspiring to witness the dedication and grit displayed by our athletes. One was Moritz Kleesik's school record-breaking mile run, which landed him in 5th place and set the stage for a series of impressive accomplishments.

Zak Freeland's stellar performance, securing sixth place with the second-best mark in school history, highlighted the depth of talent within our team. Evie Wild's remarkable time in the 800 meters, which stands as the second-fastest in school history and her second-best this year, underscores her exceptional form and commitment to excellence. Also, props to Beth Cook and Uriah Aili for their contributions as well.

Overall, our women's team moved up from seventh to fifth place, and the men's team scored 20 points more than last year. We are now looking ahead to the outdoor season, and we're feeling confident, especially in events like discus, javelin, and the 400m hurdles. We're excited to build on our progress and aim for even more success together."

The Royals will prepare to start the outdoor season as they will be back in Charlotte, N.C. for the 49er Classic, starting on Thursday, March 14th.
