JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team saw six Royals land on the 2024 Atlantic Sun postseason honors list, as officially announced by the league on Friday afternoon. Queens clinched their second straight ASUN Tournament appearance due to a historic season on the backline.
"These accomplishments reflect our collective effort and teamwork," head coach
Oliver Carias said. "We are eager and honored to compete once more in the conference tournament."

Caio Brandao and freshman
Matheus Rhormens earned First Team All-ASUN honors while senior defender
Samuel Idinge landed Second Team praise. Rhormens was also named to the ASUN All-Freshman Team with Limassol, Cyprus native
Leontios Zacharia. Queens also took care of business in the classroom as
Michel Feldman and
Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi were named Academic All-ASUN selections.
"Our team's success is a testament to the incredible leadership both on and off the field, especially from our senior captain,
Samuel Idinge, hwo played a key role in our conference-leader performance in various aspects. Caio was pivotal in our attack, consistently creating opportunities while Ciro and Michel set the tone in the attacking third, generating dangerous chances for our team. Matheus was outstanding throughout the season, contributing significantly to our five clean sheets, and
Leontios Zacharia was the engine driving our team both defensively and offensively."
The 2024 campaign was a historic one as the Royals backline shined with five clean sheets in conference play. The mark has not been made in league play since the Hatters recorded five shutouts in 2019. Freshman phenom
Matheus Rhormens was a key piece of that surrendering the fewest goals in ASUN play with just four. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native led the league in shutouts and saves per game despite facing 20+ shots on seven occasions and earned a pair of ASUN weekly honors for his performances.
Senior captain
Samuel Idinge was another key piece of the Queens backline that turned in a league-best five clean sheets. Idinge made history on the year becoming the Royals all-time leader in minutes played. The St. Petersburg, Florida native has played all 90 minutes in 37 straight matches dating back to 2022. In the season opener, Idinge netted his fourth career goal.
In the midfield, veteran
Caio Brandao was rewarded with first-team honors for his historic final season. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native was tied for the league lead in assists (6) and tied for second in points (14). Brandao led Queens in both categories across 17 starts while also finishing tied for the lead in goals (4). Against VMI, Brandao dished out three assists which tied for the single-game program record. Brandao has finished out his career strong earning career-highs this season in games played, games started, goals, assists, points, shots, shots on goal, and minutes played.
Brandao's veteran presence has also paid dividends on freshman midfielder
Leontios Zacharia as he landed All-Freshman nods. In his first season in Charlotte, Zacharia appeared in all 17 matches, including 14 starts. The Limassol, Cyprus native logged the fourth most minutes on the team with 1,312 and played all 90 minutes in 10 matches. Zacharia dished out three assists on the year, including his first as a Royal in the 2-1 victory over Radford.
"We are extremely proud of our team and our performance during conference play in the regular season. Achieving five clean sheets in seven matches and conceding the fewest goals in the league demonstrates the strength of our team's character. Additionally, going undefeated in away games is a remarkable achievement."
In the classroom, Queens saw a pair of Royals land All-Academic honors in
Michel Feldman and
Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi. Junior
Michel Feldman holds a 3.7 GPA while studying sports management. Fellow Royal
Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi possesses a 3.7 GPA while working towards a degree in business. On the pitch, Feldman started all 16 of his appearances and finished tied for the team-lead with four goals. Bourlot Jaeggi also started all 16 of his appearances and turned in the third most points with three goals and three assists. In the 3-1 win over Presbyterian, the Santa Fe, Argentina native recorded a brace and an assist.
The regular season champions from Stetson swept the Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Goalkeeper of the Year honors. Freshman Dan Karsten from Lipscomb was named the Freshman of the Year and Jamie Davies from North Florida earned Coach of the Year nods. Fans can access the full list of award recipients

Queens is gearing up for the second straight ASUN Tournament appearance after turning in a 5-9-3 overall record and 2-2-2 mark in league play. The Royals will square off against Central Arkansas on Saturday, November 9
th at 6:00 p.m. in DeLand, Florida on the campus of Stetson University. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN Plus.
The winner of Saturday night's match will advance to the semifinals to play the top-seeded Stetson Hatters on Monday, November 11
