Queens University of Charlotte Athletics

Oliver Carias began his career as the head men's soccer coach at Queens in the fall of 2011. He is the second coach in the program’s history.

2025
•Led Queens to 1-0 win over #14 Clemson and 0-0 draw with #19 Duke. The win over the Tigers was the Royals first victory over a Power Four team in program history. 
•The Royals recorded six shutouts on the season, the second most in the ASUN. 
•Michel Feldmann was named a 2025-26 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipient. 
•Cole Pumpian was tabbed the ASUN Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 
•Freshmen Vitor Baptistelli and Sindri Sigurdarson were named ASUN All-Freshman selections. 
2024
•Guided Queens to their second straight trip to the ASUN Tournament
•Notched his 100th career win at VMI on October 29, 2024
•Caio Brandao and Matheus Rhormens landed First Team All-ASUN honors while Samuel Idinge garnered Second Team All-ASUN recognition
•Veteran defender Samuel Idinge broke the school record for career minutes played with 5,568
•Matheus Rhormens was a two-time ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week and led the league with 5.00 saves per game while ranking second in save percentage
2023
•Queens clinched their first ASUN Tournament appearance with three second-half goals against Florida Gulf Coast
•Michel Feldman garnered United Soccer Coaches Third Team All-Region honors
•Feldman and Samuel Idinge were named Second Team All-Conference, and rookie Evan Morris was named All-Freshman Team
•Samuel Idinge was named a 2023-24 ASUN Fall Winners for Life recipient
2022
•Felipe Mendonca was named Second Team All-ASUN
•Mendonca, Samuel Idinge, Axel Horrocks, and Javier Izquierdo-Cuervo earned ASUN weekly honors
•Played in front of a record crowd of 517 in the first home Division 1 match
•Coach first Division 1 match of his career against Memphis on August 26th at the UAB Soccer for a Cure Classic

•2013 South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year
•Captured three Division 2 conference regular season titles, one conference tournament title, and made three NCAA Tournament appearances
•Developed 52 All-League performers, four conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year, and 16 NCCSIA All-State honorees
•Produced the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year and two Freshman of the Year
•Captured the South Atlantic Conference Tournament title in the first year in the league (2013)
•Led Queens to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in six years in 2013
Playing Career
•Played four seasons at Queens and led the Royals to a 60-10-6 overall record, including a 35-game conference winning streak and an undefeated regular season in 2002-03
•Ranked as one of the top five soccer players in the nation by USA Today
•Tabbed as the number one soccer player in the Carolinas by the Charlotte Observer
•Named an All-American and CVAC Freshman of the Year in 2001 and the CVAC Player of the Year in 2003
•Four-time All-Southeast Region and All-Conference selection
•Named to the 2006 CVAC All-Time team
•Ranked third nationally in assists per game and fourth in points per game after scoring 43 goals and notching 49 assists in four years
•Led all of Division 2 in assists in 2002 and ranked second in the nation in points per game in 2003
Personal
•Native of Guatemala who competed on the Guatemalan Soccer National Team
•Participated in the U17 and U20 Pre-World Cup, the Central American Games, Central and Caribbean Games, Pan-American Games, and the and the Pre-Olympic Games.
•Holds a Premier Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches 
•Earned his bachelor’s degree from Queens University of Charlotte
•Inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame in 2011 Association of America (NSCAA)
