Pumpian Named Men's Soccer ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year; Baptistelli and Sigurdarson Earn All-Freshman Selections

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Atlantic Sun Conference has announced the 2025 men's soccer postseason awards and honors on Tuesday afternoon, and Queens standout Cole Pumpian was named the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Freshmen Vitor Baptistelli and Sindri Sigurdarson were named to the All-Freshman Team while Pumpian, Michel Feldman, and Oliver Kneer topped the All-Academic Team.

"It is a well-earned honor for Cole," said head coach Oliver Carias. "From the moment he stepped on campus as a freshman, he made an immediate impact on our program. When you talk about a truly successful student-athlete, you talk about Cole. He sets the standard for our team and represents our athletic department and Queens community with exceptional character and professionalism."

Pumpian became the first player in program history, and the third Queens student-athlete in Division 1 to land ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year praise. Pumpian joins Riley Cheek (baseball) and Sophie Lange (women's swimming) as the Royals to earn the honor since joining the league in 2022.

Pumpian is coming off a career-best season in which he started all 16 appearances and tied for the team lead with six points behind a team-high three goals. Pumpian played a key role in the Royals upset victory over No. 14 Clemson, netting the game-winner in the 16th minute. Pumpian was a key part of six clean sheets for the Royals, a mark that ranked second in the ASUN, and he was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week on September 22nd. On top of the success on the field, Pumpian secured a 4.0 GPA while majoring in engineering physics.

"Cole had an outstanding 2025 campaign, highlighted by scoring the game-winning goal to defeat Clemson, and helping us earn a result at Duke—becoming the only team this season to shut down both offenses on their home field. His performances have been instrumental to our success."

After being named a TopDrawer Soccer Top 100 Freshman in the middle of the season, rookie Vitor Baptistelli added to his awards collection with ASUN All-Freshman Team nods. The Brazilian finished tied for the team lead with six points, behind a team-best four assists and a goal. Against USC Upstate, Baptistelli dished out a pair of assists in a 2-1 victory over USC Upstate. The 5-9 midfielder recorded his first goal in the season finale against Bellarmine on a penalty kick opportunity.

"Vitor missed the entire preseason due to injury, yet his ability to return, integrate seamlessly, and help lead us to four consecutive victories speaks volumes about his talent, resilience, and competitive character. His selection as one of the top freshmen in the nation is a testament to the quality he brings to the field."

Joining Baptistelli on the All-Freshman list was Akureyri, Iceland native Sindri Sigurdarson. The midfielder was one of six rookies in the league to be a unanimous All-Freshman selection. Sigurdarson started nine of his 15 appearances and netted his first career goal against Central Arkansas on September 27th. Sigurdarson recorded a shot in eight matches, including two multi-shot performances.

"Sindri has been a creative force for us throughout the season. His vision and composure in the attacking third have consistently generated dangerous opportunities and significantly enhanced our style of play—all in just his first year with the program."

Baptistelli and Sigurdarson became the fourth and fifth Royals over the last four years to earn ASUN All-Freshman nods. They join current Queens standouts Matheus Rhormens and Leontios Zacharia, who were named to the list last season.

"This recognition is a tremendous honor for our program, and for both Vitor and Sindri. Each has made an immediate and meaningful impact on our team and on the way we play."

While excelling on the field, Michel Feldman and Oliver Kneer achieved high academic success and were rewarded with All-Academic recognition. Feldman earned a 3.83 GPA while studying sports management, and Kneer recorded a 3.90 GPA while studying accounting. On the pitch, Feldman was tied for the team lead with six points behind two goals and two assists. Against Wofford, Feldman ripped a career-high eight shots and netted the Royals only goal. Kneer appeared in all 17 matches for the Royals and scored two goals, which was tied for second on the team.
