CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Royals head back home to the Queen City after a 1-1 weekend in ASUN play. Queens took on new ASUN members West Georgia and took home the 3-1 victory on Thursday before battling Lipscomb in a 3-0 defeat on Saturday. After Thursday's performance, Kayla McDuffie snagged six blocks on the night to lead through the match (two solo, four assisted). The Royals outhit the Wolves .253 to .190, and had four players put up double-digit kill numbers. The win marked Queens' best start in conference play since they started 2-0 the 2021 season (when the Royals were still considered Division II).
Both matches will be streamed on ESPN Plus and live statistics will be found on Queens' official statistics page.
ROYAL RUNDOWN
DIGS LEADER: After Week 6 of the 2024 season, The Royals still claim the top spot in digs per set in the ASUN with an impressive 18.11 average. Additionally, Tilley Collins and Jesse George now rank eighth and tenth in the league standings in digs per set with 3.34 and 3.15, respectively.
The Royals are also scattered across the ASUN leaderboards in other categories. Anna Grace Sparks sits ranked tenth in kills per set with 3.12, while Jesse George is ranked seventh overall in service aces per set with 0.37 (20 total). Kendall Buish had also claimed her spot fifth overall in assists per set with 8.77.
Queens will face two tough ASUN opponents this weekend—North Florida (UNF) and Jacksonville (JAX). UNF's offensive firepower, led by Amy Burkhardt (4.27 points per set), and their strong blocking presence will challenge Queens' defense. Queens must also counter UNF's aggressive serve game, which includes 2.28 aces per set.Jacksonville performs well at home, (4-3) but has vulnerabilities in tight matches. Breanna McDonough (3.55 kills per set) will be the offensive power that JAX needs, but Queens can leverage home-court advantage at the Levine Center to edge out a win.
