Gwynn Drops 24 in Overtime Thriller at Stetson

The Short Story: The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team fell in a thrilling overtime loss after mounting a 13-point late game comeback against Stetson University.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Nicole Gwynn led the Royals with 24 points sealing her sixth game this season netting over 20 points. 
  • Jordyn Weaver was great for the Royals off the bench. She posted her fourth double-double of the season, as she scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds.
  • Kinley Brown had nine points in the game with 7 of those coming in the fourth quarter and at the right time to lead the late game comeback. 
NOTABLE MOMENTS
  • After a back-and-forth first half, the Hatters closed the second quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 28-20 lead into the intermission.
  • The Royals would claw their way back in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to 32-29. However, the Hatters would respond with a 9-0 run to take a 41-29 lead.
  • A 13-3 run by the Royals in the final frame, trimmed the Hatters lead to a slim 61-60 with 43 seconds to play. A made jumper from the elbow by Kinley Brown with a second to play would force the game into overtime, capping off the Royals double-digit fourth quarter comeback.
  • An exciting overtime was ultimately decided by late free throws by the Hatters, as the Royals' impressive fight fell short.

  • The Royals offense struggled shooting from the field. The team shot 27% from the field, while the Hatters shot 42%.
  • The Royals converted 19 Hatter turnovers into 22 points.
  •  Queens shooting from the charity stripe helped charge their comeback. The Royals shot 28-for-39 from the free throw line, while the Hatters shot 22-for-44.
  • The Royals dished out 6 total assists, while the Hatters totaled 10 on the evening. The Royals fall to 2-9 overall on the season when totaling less than 10 assists.
