CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Queens enjoyed a strong night on the second day of the National Invitational Championship, breaking two meet records and earning five top-three finishes in the process.
The evening concluded with Queens men's swimming holding the top spot in the team scores with 473.5 points, 83.5 points more than Tennessee who is in second. The women's side currently sits in ninth with 213 points.
Alex Bauch,
Balazs Berecz,
Conner Wang, and
Matej Dusa kicked the night off by breaking the record in the 200 medley relay, coming in at 1:24.85. Bauch kicked off the event with the 50 back, setting both a meet and school record, swimming his leg in 20.85.
Jan Delkeskamp (3:53.93) and
Yannick Plasil (4:00.53) claimed seventh and 10, respectively in the 400 IM.
In the 100 butterfly,
Matej Dusa found himself in seventh place with a time of 47.47.
Alex Kunert broke a record of his own in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall at 1:34.59. Teammate
Daniel Meszaros put together a nice swim as well, earning the bronze with a time of 1:35.19.
Monica Gumina joined the scoring party for Queens in the women's 200 free, posting a final time of 1:47.46.
Berecz would claim seveth in the 100 breaststroke, finishing the event at 53.50.
Bauch broke yet another record in the 100 backstroke, setting the new record with a time of 45.67.
Andreas Marz came in sixth with a time of 47.58.
