THE SHORT STORY
The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's swimming teams closed out the CSCAA National Invitational Championships on Saturday night with a championship performance from the Royals' men, who captured the team title with 818.5 points. The Queens women also delivered a strong showing throughout the week, finishing fifth overall with 432 points.
The Royals men won seven individual events on their way to the team title. Queens head coach Jeff Dugdale was named NIC Men's Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Queens highlighted the final day with multiple podium finishes, including a pair of runner-up distance swims from Leonie Tenzer and a victory in the men's 400 freestyle relay to cap the meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Queens opened the final evening with a strong performance from Leonie Tenzer in the women's 1000 freestyle, where she finished second with a time of 9:54.47 to earn a podium finish for the Royals.
Tenzer later returned to the pool for the 1650 freestyle, delivering another impressive swim to place second in 16:22.21 and add valuable points for Queens.
In the 100 individual medley, Abigail Zboran represented the Royals in the championship final and secured a runner-up finish with a time of 54.82.
Zboran also competed in the 200 backstroke, finishing 10th overall with a time of 1:49.95.
Queens saw multiple swimmers reach the finals of the 100 freestyle. On the women's side, Maren Patterson placed eighth in the A final with a time of 50.09, while Maddie Foster followed closely behind with a 50.12.
The Royals' men were led by Daniel Meszaros, who captured the 100 freestyle title with a time of 43.13, adding another event victory for Queens.
Additionally, Matheus Przewalla added a third place finish in the 100 IM with a time of 48.62.
The Royals closed the championship in dominant fashion in the 400 freestyle relay as Pablo Ortega Navarro, Matheus Przewalla, Emil Harlem, and Daniel Meszaros combined to win the event with a time of 3:07.84, helping secure the CSCAA National Invitational Championship team title for the Queens men.
"I'm very thankful for our coaching staff and their spouses and partners for their support and hard work in preparing our student-athletes to be able to race and compete for championships at Queens," Director of Swimming Jeff Dugdale said. "We never want to be done swimming in February. We always want to dance into March, swimming and competing against the best of the best. This year's championship gives us great momentum going into our spring and summer season as we prepare for international and national competition."
