CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Queens University of Charlotte Head Women's Basketball Coach
Jen Brown announces the addition of two more talented transfers to her program in preparation for the Royals' transition to Division I next season. Jordyn Weaver will join the Royals from Sam Houston State while Allie Johnson is coming from Southern Arkansas University Tech.
Weaver, a 5-10 forward from San Antonio, Texas, averaged 17.5 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 steals per game in her last three seasons at Wagner High School. Additionally, she was named to the all-District 26-5A in 2019-20 as a junior after leading the Thunderbirds to the regional quarterfinals. She also recorded a 34-point and 19-rebound double-double at Wagner. She was also named newcomer of the year as a freshman and earned all-academic honors.
"Jordyn is a physical forward willing to do the little things on both offense and defense," Brown stated. "She is self-motivated and looking to make an immediate impact. Her work ethic and versatility will serve as an asset to our program."
Johnson, a 5-7 guard from Little Rock, Ark., is transferring to Queens from SAU Tech. With the Lady Rockets, she was a key leader as the program won its first-ever NJCAA Division Region II Tournament Championship this past season. Starting in all 25 games this past season, Johnson averaged 12.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. The three-time Region II Player of the Week was also named to the Region II All-Region Team twice and voted MVP of the region.
"Allie is an athletic combo guard with the ability to score the ball at every level," Brown commented on her newest guard. "It's not every day you get to add a JUCO All-American and a proven winner to your program. She's exactly what we're looking for in a student-athlete, a winner on and off the court.
I'm elated that both Jordyn and Allie decided to join our Royal family."
Queens will play the 2022-23 season at the Division I level in the
ASUN Conference.
