Royals Set for Road Trip to Tusculum on Wednesday

CHARLOTTE, N.C - The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (4-8, 3-9 SAC) will travel to Greeneville, Tenn. to take on the Tusculum University Pioneers (6-10, 4-8 SAC) in their second meeting of the season.
 
 LAST TIME OUT
- The Royals were edged in a tight road game at UVA Wise, falling 77-74 to the Cavs.
 
-  Kalaya Hall finished the game with 21 points, five assists, five steals, and two blocks.Taylor Stevens added 12 points, five assists, and four steals while Kristy Hamze chipped in 11 points. Kennedy Fuller chipped in with a career-high 10 points off the bench.
 
ABOUT THE ROYALS
-Queens is currently led by Hall who is averaging 18.3 points per game this season to rank third in the conference in the category. Additionally, Hamze is averaging 11.1 points per game. Kiana Barkhoff tops the nation, league, and Royals with 3.8 blocks per game. Her season total of 42 blocks ranks fifth nationally. Barkhoff is also averaging 7.7 rebounds per game, while Stevens ranks first in the league with 4.5 assists per game.

-The Royals opened their season with a win over Emory & Henry. It is the first time that Queens has kicked off their season in the win column since 2015. Two of their opponents since then have been nationally ranked.
 
-Head Coach Jen Brown is in her second season leading the Royals. Queens is in rebuilding mode welcoming six newcomers to a squad of nine returners this season.

ABOUT THE PIONEERS
- In their only game last week, the Pioneers snapped a two-game skid with a 64-45 victory at Coker on Saturday afternoon. The victory was the sixth time in 15 games that the Pioneers have held an opponent to under 50 points.
 
- For the season, Mya Belton is averaging team highs of 12.4 points and 9 rebounds per game and ranks third in the SAC in rebounding and seventh in blocked shots (1.3 per game). Belton's six double-doubles are tied for second in the SAC with De'Ja Marshall of Mars Hill, trailing only Haleigh Brandon of Wingate who has seven. Jalia Arnwine is averaging 12.1 points per game and leads the conference in minutes per game with 35.9. Brianna Dixon has averaged 12.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists in six games this season.

- Belton, Dixon, and Arnwine are each avering just over 12 points this season.

SERIES HISTORY
- Tusculum leads the series with the Royals, 16-3. The Royals fell 74-41 at home to the Pioneers on Dec. 1, 2021 in their last meeting. Hall finished the game with 15 points, while Hamze added eight points and six rebounds coming off the bench for the Royals. Barkhoff totaled six points and four rebounds and Stevens recorded five points, five rebounds, and six assists.
 
-Queens looks to end an eight-game losing streak to the Pioneers on Wednesday. The last time the Royals defeated Tusculum was during hte 2016-17 season when they swept the Pioneers.
