CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's swimming team dominated the water again taking 12 events at Wingate on Friday night and defeating the Bulldogs by a final score of 178.5-66.5. The Royals victory Friday night marks their second straight after taking the 2021 Kellianne Nagy Fall Frenzy reigns on Nov. 21.

In the only team relay event of the night, the pairing of
Alex Kunert,
Kimani Gregory,
Skyler Cook-Weeks, and
Matej Dusa raced to a first place finish with a time of 3:03.55. The second relay unit comprised of
Luke Erwee,
Balazs Berecz,
Myers Morgan, and
Jan Delkeskamp would take third with a total time of 3:12.59.

Queens continued their dominance in the individual events as the Royals placed a pair of swimmers in the top three in every event Friday night. The Royals were led by the senior leaders
Skyler Cook-Weeks and
Alex Kunert as both veterans recorded three top finishes. Cook-Weeks won the 100-yard backstroke (49.76), 200-yard backstroke (1:50.48), and 50-yard freestyle (20.03). Kunert took the reigns in the 100-yard butterfly (48.87), 200-yard freestyle (1:39.73), and 500-yard freestyle (4:37.08).

The trio of
Jan Delkeskamp,
Balazs Berecz, and
Matej Dusa managed to put together consistent and quality races. The reigning Bluegrass Mountain Swimmer of the Week,
Jan Delkeskamp, picked up victories in the 200 I.M. (1:53.38) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:01.54) as well as a runner-up finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (55.92). Berecz would take the reigns in the 100-yard breastroke (55.69) and take second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.09) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:03.37). Dusa added a first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (44.06) and a pair of second place finishes in the 100-butterfly (49.17) and 50-yard freestyle (20.08).

The Royals men will not return to the pool until the new year when they travel to Durham for a dual meet with Duke University and the University of Tennessee on Saturday, Jan. 8.

Both the men and women programs will celebrate their senior class tomorrow, Dec. 4, ahead of the women's dual meet with Wingate University. The ceremony is set to begin at 9:45 a.m. from the Levine Aquatic Center with the meet beginning at 10:00 a.m. Fans can tune into the action on the Queens Sports Network beginning at 9:45 a.m.
