CHARLOTTE, N.C - The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (3-6, 2-6 SAC) will continue South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, Dec. 18 hosting Lincoln Memorial University (5-5, 3-4 SAC) inside Curry Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Royals traveled to Wingate, N.C., on Wednesday evening to take on Wingate University (8-1, 6-0 SAC), falling 91-59.
-
Kristy Hamze led the charge for the Royals with 18 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-5 from three.
Kalaya Hall added 10 points and four assists.
Christina Deng played some significant minutes flirting with a double-double and finishing with nine points and seven rebounds.
Kiana Barkhoff totaled five blocks, seven boards, and six points.
ABOUT THE ROYALS
-Queens is currently led by Hall who is averaging 16.3 points per game this season. Additionally, Hamze is averaging 12.4 points per game. Barkhoff tops the league and the Royals with 3.9 blocks per game and has a total of 35 so far this season. Barkhoff is also averaging 7.8 rebounds per game, while
Taylor Stevens ranks second in the league with 4.1 assists per game.
-The Royals opened their season with a win over Emory & Henry. It is the first time that Queens has kicked off their season in the win column since 2015. Two of their opponents since then have been nationally ranked.
-Head Coach
Jen Brown is in her second season leading the Royals. Queens enters the year in rebuilding mode welcoming six newcomers to a squad of nine returners.
ABOUT THE RAILSPLITTERS
-In their last matchup against UVA Wise, the Railsplitters defeated the Cavs 72-67 at home. Mikayla Kuehne led all scorers with 23 points while grabbing four rebounds. Lauren Flowers added 16 points and seven rebounds. Irelynn Davisson totaled 12 points for the Railsplitters.
-The Railsplitters currently have two players averaging double figures in points. Kuehne leads the way with 12.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while Davisson is averaging 12 points and 3.2 rebounds.
SERIES HISTORY
-LMU leads the series, 19-4. In their last meeting on Feb. 20, 2021, LMU defeated the Royals 75-52. Deng scored 16 points and had eight boards, while
Amari Davis added eight points. Hall chipped in with seven points.
-The Royals will look to break the four-game losing streak against the Railsplitters which would give them their first win over the LMU since Feb. 2, 2019.
