COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's swimming programs traveled to Columbia to face perennial SEC contender South Carolina in a dual meet on Friday night. The Royals dominated 11 events on the evening, including the freestyle, IM, and freestyle relay.

On the women's side, the Royals commanded the 400-yard IM by taking the first five spots in the event.
Tova Andersson was sensational placing first with a time of 4:28.73 before
Rebecca Dany came in second at 4:40.45.
Amber Rydzewski,
Mia Leech, and
Hannah Foster rounded out the top five in order ahead of the Gamecocks. Queens managed to pair their 400-yard freestyle relay teams effectively as the Royals took the top three spots in the event.
Danielle Melilli,
Monica Gumina,
Caroline Lawrence, and
Giulia Grasso finished first with a time of 3:31.28. Coming in second was
Mia Leech,
Sophia Lange,
Kayla Tennant, and
Ryley Heck at 3:42.49. Rounding out the top of the event was
Emily Cundiff,
Anna De Boer,
Rebecca Dany, and
Hannah Foster who placed third with a time of 3:42.67.

The men were led by
Luke Erwee and
Alex Kunert who grabbed first place in two events each. Erwee placed in the top in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:17.47 as well as the 500-yard freestyle. An All-American last year in both events,
Alex Kunert was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle.
Balazs Berecz continued his dominance by winning the 200-yard freestyle and
Matej Dusa took the 50-yard freestyle. An All-American in the 400-yard IM last season,
Jan Delkeskamp placed first with a time of 3:58.83. In the final event,
Alex Kunert,
Skyler Cook-Weeks,
Matej Dusa, and
Balazs Berecz took the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:57.74.

Next on the schedule for the Royals is a meet with the University of Richmond on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Levine Aquatic Center. During the meet, only the women will be racing. Following that meet, both squads will be back in the pool at the Fall Frenzy which the Royals will host from Nov. 19-21 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
