Box Score 2 Charlotte, NC - The Queens University of Charlotte softball team (14-13; 0-2 SAC) rattled off a pair of tight victories defeating Frostburg State 4-2 and Lees-McRae 4-3.
Game One: Queens 4 Frostburg State 2
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning, junior second baseman
Grace Wesoly blasted a two-run home run to lift the Royals on top 2-1. Frostburg State tied it in the sixth, but the Royals fired back with a two-run double from junior catcher
Jordan Hunt to lead 4-2. Sophomore pitcher
Khristen McPherson closed out the final inning and earned her first win of the season.
Game Two: Queens 4 Lees-McRae 3
Sophomore
McKenzie McCullen knocked in the first three runs of the game with a double in the first inning and a home run in the third. Lees-McRae chipped away at its deficit and tied it with a two-out, seventh inning home run from Faith Cooke to extend the game into extra innings. A strong, eight inning performance from Queens starting pitcher
Courtney Pearson kept the game even until McCullen scored junior
Gerlea Patton on a walk-off sacrifice fly. Pearson earned her sixth win of the season.
Queens is back at home as they resume South Atlantic Conference play with Lenoir-Rhyne on Tuesday, March 10th at 2 p.m.
