Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Charlotte, NC - The Queens University of Charlotte softball team (12-13; 0-2 SAC) split its Saturday doubleheader at Tuckaseegee Dream Fields. Queens cruised to a convincing win over Frostburg State, 10-2 before being shut out by Lees-McRae, 6-0.

Game One: Queens 10 Frostburg State 2

Senior first basemen Kelly Winter belted two home runs and cashed in three RBI's to pace the Royals ahead. Leading 5-2 with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth, senior shortstop Breanna Martinez launched a grand slam to slingshot the Royals in front, 9-2. Junior second baseman Grace Wesoly doubled in a run later in the inning to enforce the mercy rule. Senior pitcher Courtney Pearson picked up her fifth win of the season.

Game Two: Lees-McRae 6 Queens 0

Lees-McRae rallied to three runs in each of the first and third innings to capture a demanding 6-0 lead. The Royals made three defensive errors and were stifled to just five hits against Bobcats' starting pitcher, Charlsy Traylor. Royals sophomore pitcher Victoria Elder pitched four shutout innings in relief of Shannon McGuire, but Queens was unable to mount a comeback.

Queens faces each opponent again Sunday, March 8th at Tuckaseegee Dream Fields. The Royals face Frostburg State at 1:30 p.m. and Lees McRae at 4 p.m.
